9/11

I haven't posted for a while... I promise I'll get better at this.
But I just wanted to take a moment and express on this day how truly grateful I am to live in this country with so many brave and amazing people. In memory of today, I have watched so many 9/11 television documentaries and they really get to me.
I was 7 years old 10 years ago when the planes hit the World Trade Centers. I don't remember too much about that day except thinking "Woah.. that's a big fire!" I remember that all of the teachers at my elementary school were trying to keep everything calm and try to make it seem like it was a normal day, but all anyone wanted to do was be glued to the TV.
Although I didn't really know what was going on 10 years ago, as I've gotten older I have learned to really appreciate everything that happened. I am so grateful that I was alive to witness this horrible day and so I can relate to it on a more personal level.
This past year I have really found a deeper meaning to the word "patriotism". I attended Girls State this past Summer which totally changed my whole perspective on government, the armed forces, and patriotism. I am most grateful for that week opportunity that changed my life.
I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all of the men and women serving in our armed forces. My heart goes out to you and your family and to the families that lost loved ones in the attacks on 9/11. They will always be remembered for their brave actions on that terrible day.
I'm proud to be an American. Never forget 9/11. God bless America.
